
Well, the swimming is definitely the toughest of the three for me. Each week Coach Julie introduces a new skill (or two or three) for us to work on, and I am having a difficult time keeping everything in my head as I swim. Tonight it was working on the second half of our stroke, as our arm exits the water. But, she also pointed out to me tonight that my hand is not in the correct position as it enters the water...she's worried about my shoulders getting too tired, so I am happy to have the coaching. The problem is that while focusing on my entry hand position, my exit stroke position, and making sure I am not kicking too hard (I am terrified of those charley horses!), I forget to exhale and then I end up sucking wind when its time to breathe. Right now this feels a bit like rubbing my tummy and patting my head! Julie assures me it will all come together at some point. Meanwhile, I am still swimming in the fast lane but trying not to worry too much about getting lapped by the three torpedos!
